A Note From Karen...
Pets by Design was founded in 2000 out of necessity- I thought it was necessary to open a quality pet styling salon where I could offer top quality grooming, exceptional products for your pet, and great personal service. None of which was offered at my previous grooming positions as an employee.
I have been grooming for 29 years, and am a member of National Dog Groomers Association of America. My husband is a veterinarian. He taught me small animal restraint (which has come in handy over the years!) and has given me a good background in being able to identify possible health problems in my clients. I am able to alert pet owners to what I see is necessary for a trip to their veterinarian.
I attend two grooming seminars a year, if possible, to keep abreast of the very latest styling techniques, new products and anything else to help make your pet’s grooming experience as positive as possible. I use only top of the line grooming products. Only natural flea shampoos and dips are used on your pet, and only if necessary (one or two fleas don’t warrant a dip).
My grooming equipment is also top of the line; clippers that will cut the hair quickly and neatly, brushes that will help prevent carpal tunnel for me, plus brush through the pet’s coat thoroughly and gently, combs, mat rakes and splitters that are ergonomically fashioned for the very best grooming job possible.
I offer medicated baths, nail trims, hot oil treatments and wonderful conditioners. I use a hydro massage bathing system that massages the pet’s coat as well as deep cleaning. I offer a wonderful de-shed program which can cut the shedding process as much as 60%. On top of all this, I also offer coloring. This is a safe and fun way for your pet to show off a new holiday “do”!

Karen has been a godsend for the APLMC over the years. She has groomed numerous animals, free of charge, been a foster parent and supported us in so many other ways! If we had more volunteers like Karen, we would be as happy as a lab with a tennis ball!
